Chivasso residential complex is a new masterplan project for the development of the west area of Chivasso, near Torino. This considerable new settlement, 23.000 mq (250.000 sf) organized in 27 4-5-6 storey residential buildings and a sport complex building, will introduce a new life-style for the local community. The scale of the project can be considered an important impact in the area and the sustainable solutions adopted represent a well defined novelty. The Italian urban fabric typology of the internal square courtyard is here translated in a new semi-public typology following a curved arrangement that transform the streets and the green areas around the buildings in the new courtyards, allowing the future inhabitants to live a new interactive experience. Green roofs represent a further examples of social plazas, but of course also contribute to define this project as a sustainable example of life style. The use of passive solutions, from the site design to the internal ventilation studies, and of active ones, such as photovoltaic panels and geo-thermal energy, together with the concept of a brand new electric mobility system set the high level of project in terms of sustainability.
